A CULTURAL EXCHANGE IN DOWNTOWN KITCHENER

Local and Regional candidates to discuss arts and culture

KITCHENER – On October 20th, THEMUSEUM will host A Cultural Exchange for Downtown Kitchener with Regional Candidates from Kitchener and Ward 10 – City of Kitchener Candidates for an informal discussion of arts and culture in downtown Kitchener.

Each candidate will have three and a half minutes to share their position on arts and culture in downtown Kitchener then rotate to another table during the two hour informal gathering taking place in a pub like, licensed setting.

David Marskell, CEO of THEMUSEUM will act as moderator for the evening and facilitate a discussion with the candidates the general public and a guest panel of three.

Ten candidates have confirmed along with a stellar panel of special guests consisting of:

Martin deGroot – Waterloo Region Arts Council
Gordon Hatt – Former curator in Cambridge and Executive Director of CAFKA
Robert Reid – Arts & Culture Reporter, The Waterloo Region Record

This “Cultural Exchange” is meant to raise awareness and discussion about the importance of arts and culture in the heart of Kitchener days before the election. With organizations such as CITS, KW|AG, KW Symphony and THEMUSEUM all located in the downtown core as well as festivals such as IMPACT and CAFKA, it is important to discuss sustainability, resources and commitment to a culturally lead revitalization of the downtown core and to see the candidates’ positions.

A Cultural Exchange will begin at 7pm sharp but doors will open at 5:45pm for those wishing to enjoy a meal at THEMUSEUM Café or see Titanic: The Artifact Exhibition prior to the exchange.

Admission to the Cultural Exchange is FREE with donations to THEMUSEUM encouraged and the Titanic experience will be reduced by 25%.

In Partnership with 570NEWS, SNAP and the Waterloo Region Record.
