Thanks for making our Skating Party a Success!

It may have been a perfect day for skating at Weber Park
on Saturday January 29th for the first annual CFNA skating
party. The weather was bright and sunny, the temperature
was cold, the hot chocolate was warm, and the cookies
were delicious!
Thanks to the great weather and the help of our wonderful
volunteers, we had a great turn out for this event. After
some shovelling and general clean-up (a big thanks to
some local skaters who helped out with this), lots of kids,
and a few grown-ups, got to participate in one of Canada’s
favourite past times. It was great to see some first time
skaters, as well as seasoned pros out on the rink enjoying
the fresh air.
The party went on for two hours, before we had to close
shop (although there were still a few die-hards who stayed
on past 4:00). It was great to see so many friendly faces
out enjoying one of our local rinks. I hope some more of
you will come out next year!
I also want to take this opportunity to ask anyone out
there who uses any of the rinks in our neighbourhood
to consider volunteering to keep these rinks in skating
condition. Email us at central.frederick@gmail.com with
the name of the rink you would like to help maintain
and we will connect you with some current volunteers.
Remember it is a lot of hard work to keep these rinks
going throughout the winter and all the work is done
by your friends and neighbours!
