Red Raccoon Bike Rescue

Red Raccoon Bike Rescue is a volunteer group aiming to provide repairs to everyone who needs them. Bicycles are relied upon by many of our fellow community members and repairs and parts can be costly. Access and choice of transportation is important for everyone and their quality of life. Bring your bike to Make Every Day Earth Day for its  spring maintenance.

Worth Mending

Mending our clothes adds meaning to our wardrobe, builds community, helps us appreciate what we have, and is a small thing we can do to make a big impact every day.

We’ll bring: sewing needles, thread, patches, buttons and other assorted sewing notions. We won’t have any replacement zippers, but time permitting we can try our best to find you a “quick fix” for any zipper troubles.

You’ll bring: that item from your closet you promised that you’d get around to fixing, because it’s not that broken and you can’t quite bear to part with it 😉 We’ll help you get it back in rotation.

Kids Cutting Carbon & Level Up

Kids Cutting Carbon helps students to learn the basics of climate change, understand their personal impact on the environment and explore actions they can take to make a positive difference. Reep Green Solutions and the kids from Level Up, Central Frederick’s social justice tweens program, are partnering to show families how to calculate and take action to reduce their carbon footprint.

We will use Project Neutral’s online carbon footprint calculator to show families how to calculate their carbon footprint and then explore ways to take action to reduce our carbon footprint using kid-friendly arts based activities.

Stone Soup for Butterflies

Stone Soup for Butterflies is a continuing project that installed around a dozen pollinator gardens in Central Frederick Neighbourhood in 2019-20, and gave out many individual pollinator plants to CFN gardeners. Come see us on Earth Day and learn about our plans for native plantings this season.
