For many, the holiday season begins when signs go up throughout our Central Frederick Street neighbourhood announcing the annual Art Walk. Always early to mid-November the event which features local artists, artisans, and crafters provides a terrific opportunity to do some shopping in a lovely setting. Some prefer the hustle and bustle of a mall, but from the turnout on Saturday, November 7 many prefer the mature trees, century houses, and welcoming homes of our neighbourhood.
As always the Art Walk featured an amazing array of works including fabric art, paintings, chocolate, photography, pottery, stained glass art, sewing crafts, tile work, and jewellery. The twenty-three homes host nearly fifty artists offering a wide variety of items appealing to every taste.
Thanks to their core team of volunteers plans are already underway for their tenth walk in 2010. Thanks to them Central Frederick plays host to a popular and classy event that has become a tradition to so many in this community.
